Some new images of common cranes, taken mid-february in the french Champagne region, near the Lac du Der Chantecoq, where thousands of them are wintering and/or migrating, can be found in the RECENT WORK section.
The use of a hide was essential to make sure these very shy birds were not disturbed.
The great show was absolutely worth spending more than 10 hours in that small hide at freezing temperatures.
UPDATE: These images can now be found in the WILDLIFE section, in the CRANES gallery.
